This January has seen a very successful organisation of all the dry fruits and nuts in my kitchen which has led to much smoother family breakfasts as I described in my earlier post. Mari Kondo’s books ‘Life Changing Magic of Tidying’ and ‘Spark Joy’ have been a real inspiration in this venture.
It’s February and I have sorted out all my vegetable goodies in the freezer as it can become quite frustating to spend time to find an ingredient when you are cooking and at worst, finding you have very little or even non of it! So you guessed it, I have now stored all the vegetables in my freezer in clear, easy to open plastic tubs which I prefer to be Sistema as they are Phthalate and BPA free. This has also helped me to jot down frozen items to buy on my shopping list!
So much easier and quicker to find a vegetable accompaniment for steaming or even throwing in a couple of greens into your pasta dish. It also allows for more inventive ways to use certain vegetables as they are so readily accessible!
Fruits and berries in the freezer are also very handy, particularly in winter when local fresh ingredients are not available. You only have to reach out to add some very colourful and refreshing ingredients to a warm porridge or even a super five a day smoothie which can be made in a flash!
